Cartridge Filter Housing for RO Pretreatment: Supplier RFQ Guide

Prepare an RO pretreatment housing RFQ: compare conventional and high-flow cartridge vessels, materials, interfaces, pressure drop and maintenance scope.

A cartridge filter housing for RO pretreatment is part of the membrane protection train. Its job and specification must follow the membrane system design and incoming water conditions. Choosing a vessel solely from a flow label can overlook cartridge compatibility, pressure loss or maintenance access.

Conventional or high-flow cartridge housing?

Conventional multi-cartridge vessels and high-flow vessels use different element formats. Compare them using actual cartridge performance data, available plant space, service access and consumable availability. A high-flow arrangement is not a direct drop-in replacement merely because the inlet connection is the same size.

Question Conventional vessel High-flow vessel
Element format Confirm diameter, length and DOE/SOE interface Confirm the exact high-flow cartridge family and end geometry
Layout Review cartridge quantity and internal arrangement Review element arrangement, orientation and lifting needs
Flow selection Use actual cartridge pressure-drop data Use actual cartridge pressure-drop data; avoid generic per-element guarantees
Maintenance Confirm access to every cartridge Confirm wet-element handling and removal space

What to send a high flow cartridge filter housing manufacturer

Provide normal/peak feed flow, feed-water analysis, temperature, operating/design pressure, target filtration specification, chosen cartridge make/model, cleaning conditions and available installation space. Include relevant turbidity or SDI records when available, but do not treat a cartridge housing as a guarantee of downstream membrane feed quality.

For INCE filtration equipment, start with the High-Flow Filter Housing product range and the existing housing sizing guide. Use the conventional Cartridge Filter Housing range where that element format fits the project.

Define pressure loss and instrumentation

Ask for the clean pressure-drop basis, proposed pressure measurement points and the cartridge supplier’s changeout criteria. Vessel pressure rating and cartridge differential-pressure limits describe different constraints. Agree the design conditions and replacement procedure rather than borrowing a threshold from another installation.

Materials and package scope

Water composition, chloride exposure, cleaning chemicals and temperature affect wetted-material selection. Specify whether the package needs 304, 316L or another reviewed construction, together with seal materials. List vents, drains, gauges, valves, supports, spare seals and cartridges as included or excluded items.

Compare RO housing quotations on equal terms

  1. Give every supplier the same feed duty and element specification.
  2. Check the layout drawing against the piping and removal clearance.
  3. Confirm adapter compatibility and replacement-element availability.
  4. Compare inspection records, documents, packing and destination.
  5. Record assumptions requiring approval before manufacture.

FAQ

Does the housing remove dissolved salts?

A particulate cartridge housing is not the RO membrane separation stage. Match the cartridge to its specified pretreatment duty.

Can I specify a micron rating without cartridge media?

Include media, retention-efficiency requirements and performance data. A micron label alone does not completely define filtration performance.

Can an existing skid accept a larger vessel?

Check supports, nozzle locations, isolation, handling space and system pressure loss before confirming the replacement.
