Filter Housing Documentation Package: MTC, Hydrotest and Compliance RFQ

Specify a filter housing documentation package covering drawings, materials, hydrotest records, nameplate data, weld records and compliance needs.

Representative industrial multi bag filter housing

A filter housing quotation can look complete while leaving the documentation scope undefined. For a project buyer, the vessel, connections and closure are only part of the deliverable. Drawings, material traceability, pressure-test records, nameplate information and declarations may determine whether the housing can be accepted at site.

This guide explains how to define a filter housing documentation package before quotation. It is an RFQ framework, not a claim that every document is standard with every INCE housing. Availability must be confirmed for the selected design, material, code basis and inspection level.

Start With the Governing Project Requirements

Representative stainless steel single bag filter housing for project documentation RFQ
Single-bag housing example. Required material and test records must be specified in the purchase order.
Representative industrial high flow cartridge filter housing for engineering documentation review
High-flow housing example. Drawing, nameplate and testing scope depend on the agreed design.

State the destination country, end user, plant standard and any requested design code before asking for certificates. A general single bag filter housing may have a different documentation scope from a project-specific multi bag housing or high flow filter housing.

RFQ item What the buyer should define Why it matters
Design basis Operating and design pressure, design temperature, fluid group, corrosion allowance and requested code Prevents a catalogue pressure value from being mistaken for the project design basis
Material records Pressure-retaining parts, wetted internals, seals, fasteners and requested certificate level Aligns traceability with the actual bill of materials
Pressure testing Test medium, test pressure basis, hold time, acceptance criteria and witnessing Defines what the test record must prove
Drawings General arrangement, nozzle schedule, dimensions, weights, lifting and maintenance clearance Supports piping, foundation and access review
Inspection Buyer or third-party witness points, NDE scope and release documents Avoids adding inspection after fabrication

Documents Commonly Requested in a Housing RFQ

A practical package may include an approved general-arrangement drawing, nozzle or connection schedule, bill of materials, material certificates for agreed parts, welding information, pressure-test record, dimensional inspection, surface-finish statement and an operating manual. Do not write “full certification” without listing the exact records.

  • General-arrangement drawing with inlet, outlet, vent, drain, support and cover-opening envelope.
  • Material list identifying the grades of the shell, head, nozzles, basket, seals and major fasteners.
  • Material test certificates or certificates of conformity for the parts explicitly named in the purchase order.
  • Hydrostatic or pneumatic test procedure and report, where applicable to the design and agreed scope.
  • Weld map, welder qualification, NDE reports or passivation records only when required and quoted.
  • Nameplate data, serial number and declarations required by the selected regulatory route.

MTC, PMI and a Material List Are Not the Same

A material list identifies what the design calls for. A mill or material test certificate links a supplied material to chemical and mechanical results under a defined certificate system. Positive material identification is a separate verification activity. If PMI is required, state the parts, sampling rate, method and reporting requirement rather than assuming that an MTC automatically includes PMI.

Hydrotest Information to Put in the Purchase Order

The required test pressure must be derived from the applicable design basis and project rules, not copied from another vessel. State the test medium, cleanliness requirement, chloride limit if relevant, temperature, hold time, gauge calibration, drying requirement and whether the customer or third party will witness the test.

Parker housing documentation illustrates why this detail matters: its housing nameplate fields distinguish design pressure, hydrostatic test pressure, design temperature, materials and serial number. A Parker catalogue also shows that EN 10204 3.1 certification can be an on-request item for a specific product range. These are useful procurement examples, not automatic INCE deliverables.

RFQ Information INCE Needs

  • Process liquid, concentration, solids and compatibility concerns.
  • Normal and design pressure and temperature, including cleaning or sterilization conditions.
  • Housing type, bag or cartridge quantity, connection standard and preferred closure.
  • Material grades, internal finish, passivation or electropolishing requirements.
  • Required code, nameplate language, certification list and inspection plan.
  • Quantity, destination, drawing format and document-submission schedule.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is an MTC automatically included with every filter housing?

No. Certificate availability and coverage depend on the product, material source and agreed order scope. List the parts and certificate level required in the RFQ.

Is hydrostatic test pressure the same as design pressure?

No. They are separate values. The test pressure is determined by the applicable design basis and agreed test procedure.

What should be submitted before fabrication?

Typically the approved drawing, connection schedule, material definition, document list and inspection plan should be agreed before fabrication starts.

Request a Documented Housing Quotation

Send your pressure, temperature, liquid, housing configuration and required document list through Send Your Specification. INCE can review which records are available for the proposed housing and identify any project-specific documentation cost before order.
